He started his electoral campaign with a tag line that Achhe Din Aane Wale Hai. He made us believe in the power of social media. He created a campaign of Aadhar card and made it mandatory for the opening up of bank accounts, PAN, Sim card and to avail the government subsidies. His much- hyped demonetization drive gave a huge blow to common man. His perfectionist attitude made many cabinet ministers (Uma Bharti, Rajiv Pratap Rudy) to resign from their respective posts. But amidst these good things, we feel that the background is gloomy. Thinking why we are saying so? The reason is NaMo government has failed its promise of job creation in India. Here’s a detail about the same.
How has PM Modi schemes swept away the employment opportunities?
Demonetization Drive
With a mission to root out black money from the hoarders, PM Modi scraped 500 and 1000 notes. Though his decision was praised by the contemporaries but little did we know that it could lead to reduced job opportunities? Industry suffered from liquidity crunch and lead to slowdown. Some people even claim that:-
“The government is playing a gimmick of cashless transactions for the benefit of some digital companies involved in this business.”
His digitization drive
It seems PM Modi want to replace a human being with robotics and artificial intelligence, his constant push towards digitization is evidence of same. In a recent survey Manpower Group, confirmed the same. Although his ministers are denying the fact of using AI completely, rather they want to cut down on manual process in government departments and agencies using automation.

His stern policies
Arun Jaitley’s stern financial and monetary policies like reduction in fiscal stimulus have led to slow growth of the export sector. Export Sector is experiencing huge capital blockage in current times. Hence leading to the job crisis!

Implementation of GST
The implementation of GST has led many merchants to think about continuing with their business, especially the textile manufacturers (Govt has levied 18% of GST on manmade fiber). Due to stock clearances and low production in June quarter GDP fell by significant number and resulted in another hit to job creation.
Bloomberg reports
A popular news agency, Bloomberg reports that India ranks poorly on police to population ratio. There is at least 5,49, 025 posts lying vacant in the police force, around 2,36, 749 posts of Aanganwadi posts is lying vacant, and 5,23,963 seats are lying vacant for the teachers post under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Even the recent train derailment incidents have not awakened the government from the deep sleep because around 225, 823 posts meant for safety and security is lying vacant. Income Tax, Post Office, Central Armed Police Force, every department of government is bleeding.
This must be saving a lot of cost for the government, out of which they must be funding the pay commission hikes. Job creation can get a major boost if these vacancies are filled using skill India program. As the youth is getting skilled but they are not getting jobs.
What does it point towards?
The sluggish job growth rate in India points toward the slow economy and if it is overlooked, it could seriously HURT the future of India.
