Remember, the times when you used to wait in a toll queue or when you resorted to honking as a means to speed up the whole process? Well, after launching the zero toll plaza (if stuck in jam) schemes at the entry and exit point of Mumbai, the toll authority of India has finally braced up itself for a futuristic app FASTag, which will bring end to all the woes of the passenger.
What is this app all about?
To commensurate with the Gen Y needs and his (PM Modi’s) aim to turn India into a digital India, NHAI has rolled out the program for Electronic Toll Collection on the national highways which will be further escalated to the State Highways too. The app uses RFID technology to make toll payments directly to the account linked to it. The tag is fixed on the windscreen of the vehicle which enables you to drive through the toll plazas hassle free. This tag has a validity of around 5 years and after purchasing it you need to recharge it as per your requirement. The minimum recharge being 100 rupees

Besides this, offline sale through Common Services Centres near toll plazas will begin from Friday.
