After the outbreak of a pandemic, it seems the government is in a mood to improve the business sentiment. Earlier it introduced GST scrappage policy to revive the demand of the commercial vehicle sector and now it rolls out the filing of NIL GST return through SMS in the Form GSTR-3B.
File GST Return through SMS
This move will help the small businessman as they now can focus on business revival rather than paying taxes.
This would make the GST compliance process easier for more than 22 lakh registered taxpayers who otherwise need to log in to the portal every month to file GST returns. Now, they can easily file the returns through SMS.
Below is the procedure:
Step 1 Initiate Nil Filing
- NIL<space>3B<space>GSTIN<space>Tax period Ex. NIL 3B 09XXXXXXXXXXXZC052020
- 123456 is the CODE for Nil filing of GSTR3B for09XXXXXXXXXXXZC for period 052020. Code validity 30 min.
Step 2 Confirming Nil Filing
- CNF <space>3B<space>CodeConfirming Nil Filing Ex. CNF 3B 123456
- Your, 09XXXXXXXXXXXZC, GSTR3B for 052020 is filed successfully and acknowledged vide ARN is AA070219000384. Please use this ARN to track the status of your return.

The status of returns can also be tracked by logging into the GSTIN account. The procedure is to go to the services page then navigating to returns and then track return status.
