What Is White Space?
White Space is a concept that deals with the use of unutilized spectrum. Using this technology, the unused spectrum of cable TV network and television stations will be tapped and utilized accordingly for internet access. Using Wide-Fi, we can make use of cable TV networks present in the rural areas, to provide internet access. These connections can then be further used for communication over long distances, via Skype. Microsoft has been testing this White Space for over a year now. These tests are taking place in Andhra Pradesh, in a place known as Srikakulam.

SBI Full Support To Improve Rural Digital Banking:
As far as SBI is concerned, it is also making use of several other available technologies. These efforts will make sure that Digital Banking will become easy to use even in rural areas. People can reach out to places where there are no reliable connectivity options, and that too hassle free. SBI will first make use of those areas where some kind of connection is already present. This will make sure that the technology is in a working condition. Only after a success is achieved, this White Space technology would be implemented in different small villages and other underdeveloped areas.
In a bid to support Narendra Modi and to hasten the cashless push, SBI planned to use various different technologies. Mr. Satya Nadella is looking towards implementing this White Space, along with the Wide Area WiFi technology. He is taking the help of SBI in achieving this goal. If this technology works, then it would be of great help digitize, even the rural areas of our country. It would further help India increase digital banking and hence go cashless.
